Wii Fit Introduction Video

Dec 14, 2008 Filed under: Wii Fit Videos

The NPD Group on Thursday released videogame software sales results for the November timeframe and while all platforms saw significant spikes, Nintendo's two systems soared through the atmosphere, out of this solar system and into the next galaxy, a faint, echoing "ka-ching!" left behind for Microsoft and Sony to consider. Wii was far and away the best-selling console for the month with 2.04 million units sold, easily the biggest month the platform has enjoyed since its release two years ago. And let's just repeat: 2.04 million units. Not a typo.

From IGN.com

The popularity of the Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit is astounding. The Wii outsold the PS3, xBox 360 and PSP, COMBINED in November. I would have to attribute this to the easy-to-play, family appeal the Wii has over the other more serious gamer machines. Also with the popularity of the Wii Fit, people need to buy the console in order to play (i know, duh). With the Wii Fit selling over 700,000 units in Novmeber alone, December is surely going to break that record, that is if Nintendo can make enough of them to satisfy the demand.

1 - Gears of War 2 for Xbox 360 sold 1.5 million
2 - Call of Duty: World of Warcraft for Xbox sold 1.4 million
3 - Wii Play for Nintendo Wii sold 800,000
4- Wii Fit for Nintendo Wii sold 700,000
5- Mario Cart for Nintendo Wii sold 637,000
6- Wold or Warcraft for PS3 sold 597,000
7- Guitar Hero: World Tour for Nintendo Wii sold 475,000
8- Left for Dead for Xbox sold 410,000
9- Resistance 2 on PS3 sold 385,000
10- Wii Music for Nintendo Wii sold 297,000

Notice how the top games for "the other" consoles are shoot-em-up games and the Wii games are more family themed. Great job Nintendo.

The Wii game console was the most searched-for product on eBay, followed by the Wii Fit companion product. Consumers snatched up 3,171 Wiis over eBay, at an average selling price of $349, followed by the Wii Fit, with 1,059 sold at an average selling price of $140.

Shorter Shopping Season

Nov 30, 2008 Filed under: General, Wii Fit Buy

Why was there an increasing in consumer spending of 3% on Black Friday 2008 compared to Black Friday 2007? Maybe because there are fewer shopping days. If you count the days between Black Friday '08 and Christmas, you come up with 27 days compared to 32 in 2007. That's 5 whole days of shopping missing from the 2008 season. Keep your procastinating in check....

Watch for LOW priced, Buy-It-Now Wii Fit listings as they are being listed live on ebay and snatch one up. Also note: this saves you precious time by purchasing your Wii Fit without having to wait for the auction to end.  Happy Shopping =)

Here's a story about a shopper trying to buy a Wii Fit at Gamestop, only to be told that they are saving them all for the elusive "Black Friday" (biggest shopping day of the year).

David Cavanaugh of Middletown has a bone to pick with GameStop, which originally told him Wednesday they had the Wii Fit in stock at its Meriden store, but when he got there he was not permitted to buy the sought after item.

By reading the blog posting, they make it sound "Illegal" for GameStop to require their store to hold their Wii Fits until a certain date. I don't believe this is illegal because games, music, books are often held for release on certain dates with inventories adjusted for in-store promotions. Read the rest of this entry »
